For me, articulating what a Miracle is has been the hardest part of this project thus far. I’ve done countless scripture dives, google searches, conversations with Rob… and everything (we felt) kept falling short. Finally, we wised up and reached out to a dear friend of ours and one of the most knowledgeable Biblical scholars we know (who is also a pastor at our incredible church), and he responded to our question with this:
“So there is a guy named Moltmann who has the greatest definition: ‘a miracle is a restoration of how a thing is really meant to be’. What he meant by that is that sin so pervasively affects things that we think miracles are supernatural, when in reality, they are just natural.
To sum it up, miracles are earthly glimpses of Heaven’s mercy.”
Whew! We were mind blown at how much that fired us up. We have been at complete peace with that definition ever since! And honestly, I have just been so excited to share it. Every single miracle story that we are recording right now is perfectly described with this definition.
